Bwaah.  My throat hurts, my head feels about five pounds too heavy, and I feel like I could sleep for a year.   I have to turn in a draft of my Master's Report by Friday, and I cannot be sick right now.  But I am.  So.

Therefore, I am putting on hold several things until Friday:
1)  Writing up my thoughts about kink, in response to the awesome conversation I was having with merisunshine36  and lindmere  and other peeps both in RL and on LJ.

2)  Reading My Chemical Romance bandslash, b/c concinnity  is determined to Show Me the Light, and pretty convinced that there is Light to be seen, based on this excellent evidence.

Okay well maybe I won't put that one off.  *smacks self*  No!  Bad fleete.  Kink thesis first, then pretty boy slash.

3) And oh yeah -  laundry.  I should probably wear clean clothes again at some point.

4) Paying internet bill.  You know, come to think of it, this one might need to be higher on the list.



Can we all just pause to consider the brillance of the fact that the most pressing task in my life right now is to write 25 pages of kink meta?  For which someone may well just give me a master's degree? 

 I WIN AT LIFE.  \o/

This is my week for srs acronyms.  I spent the past weekend at the SXSW Interactive Trade Show, helping to pimp my friends, the wonderful guys at Monkey Wrench Design.  Being an academic, it was strange and exciting to see how the "real" businesspeople do business.  Really, except for the talk of profits and costs, it's not that different from an academic conference: panels, business cards, "what do you do?," and so on.  The difference, of course, was that I had to assemble 16 dancing robot monkeys, which were awesome, but still.  All I have to do at ICFA is click my Powerpoint forward. 

The Powerpoint which is still not finished.  I'm working on it now, but I want it to be fun and informative but not get in the way of my paper and yet really illustrate all of the fun and sexy things I will hopefully have to say.  I've never been to a real conference before, so I'm kind of nervous.  Especially since I'm on a panel with some amazing scholars.  Perhaps they will have advice on how one goes about making a career in fan studies.
