Y'know, there's really not that many groups that can rival the organizational power of churches. I've heard of people with support groups or book clubs or political groups that work this way, but not many. I think it's kind of replicating the village effect of living in tiny towns.

And that's super interesting about the wedding processions; I wonder if these two traditions came out of the same place?
